New Member & Presidential Induction Lunch – 23 June 2024 – Chariots Restaurant, The Wanderers Club

The Induction Lunch on Sunday was a remarkable event. Well done Dee and Richard and all others who contributed to making it a happy, smiley, memorable day. Thank you Simon for taking charge. The table decorations were spectacular. Thank you Dee for sprinkling your magic. The speeches were out of the top drawer. Skin-tingling stuff in particular from George toasting South Africa and PP Ian lighting the Peace Candle.

In new members Rtn Jen and Rtn Mzwanele we have a welcome injection of youth and fresh energy. I have no doubt both will make enormous contributions to our club and reap commensurate rewards with Rotary as part of their lives. Mzwanele’s speech included the quotable, “thank you for not making me feel young”. Beautifully expressed Mzwanele. It says volumes about the Rotary Club of Morningside.

We were blessed with a marvellous mix of guests. We were honoured to have DGE George join us, he took away positive thoughts of a happy and vibrant club. I’m looking forward to working with him and supporting him in his District Governor year. PDG Francis and PDGA Janet were ever good humoured and gracious and it was meaningful to have the President of the Interact Club of Jules Verne, Tara-Marie Ryan, and Club Advisor, Marel Wentworth, join the festivities.

Thank you to everyone who attended and thank you to our ever productive David for taking photographs. These photos tell a tale of a club that actively embraces the virtuous circle of fellowship, fundraising, community service, and membership. To our Mauri Meiring winner Richard. Well done and thank you! None of this is possible without a strong Club Administration function
